A simple daily work log structure
Use the date as the first layer of organisation, then keep the note to the parts you will actually use:
Today’s focus Done - What moved forward? Decisions and context - What should I remember? Blocked - What is waiting, and on whom? Next - What is the first useful step tomorrow?
Why a dated note helps
When a work log is dated, you can capture context close to the moment it happened and find it later without inventing a perfect filing system. WorkNotes lets you move through workdays, search finished notes, and carry yesterday’s page forward when the thread is still active.
- During the day: add short facts, decisions, and actions as they happen.
- At the end: write the one thing you want your future self to know.
- At the start of tomorrow: open yesterday’s context and choose the next step.
Use WorkNotes for the part other tools miss
A project board can show status. A calendar can show time. A daily work log holds the human context between them: why a choice was made, what changed, and what you do not want to reconstruct from memory.
What WorkNotes does not do
WorkNotes is not an automatic time tracker, timesheet system, or team reporting dashboard. It is a personal iPhone notebook for recording the work you want to remember.
Make the routine fit your day
You can keep the note plain or use bold, italic, bullets, and checkmarks for quick scanning. The core flow works offline, so you can add a thought even when the connection is not the thing you want to think about.
